Takeo Ishii has completed his PhD at the age of 28 years from Jikei University School of Medicine, Tokyo. He is now the co-director of Yokohama Daiichi Hospital, a central hospital of Zenjinkai Group. Zenjinkai Group is consisting from 51 hemodialysis clinics and health check up centers. He is also a reserch fellow of Department of Medical Science and Cardiorenal Medicine, Yokohama City University, Graduate school of Medicine. He received award from Japanese Society of Nephrology. The award wining study was dialysis outcome study and he read this paper at EDTA-ERA 2017.

huong-Thu Pham is a Professor of Medicine and Director of Outpatient Services of the Kidney Transplant Program at UCLA Medical Center. Her major areas of interest include recurrence of glomerular diseases following primary renal transplantation, new onset diabetes after transplantation, BK virus screening andrnmanagement after kidney transplantation, the link between hypomagnesemia and renal function decline in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 as well asrnin recipients of kidney transplant and acute and chronic kidney injury following liver transplantation. Her interests have resulted in publications in well-known Nephrology textbooks and journals as well as invitations to speak at both national and international meetings. Dr. Vasilyev received his Ph. D. (2001) and M.D. (2004) degrees from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He then completed his residency training in Anatimic Pathology at the Massachusetts General Hospital (2007) and a Research Fellowship in Renal Pathology (2009). In 2009 he became an Instructor in Pathology at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and in 2013 started as an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Sciences at the New York Institute of Technology, College of Osteopathic Medicine. He uses zebrafish to study kidney development and regeneration.

Dr. Allen obtained a PhD in Medicine in 1978. For over 14 years, he worked at and subsequently headed a hospital’s cardio-vascular department, and treated patients with renal diseases. He had authored many scientific articles on metabolic disorders, including those linked to obesity, kidneys, arthritis, cardio-vascular and gastroenterological diseases. He lectured medical doctors pursuing higher medical qualifications. He then devoted nearly two decades to further medical research into various chronic internal diseases. Dr. Allen established Fine Treatment, UK, is the author of The Origin of Diseases Theory and the inventor of the effective devices which enable the Thermobalancing therapy.

Jennifer Van Dine has recently completed her MPH in Epidemiology at The Ohio State Univeristy in 2019. She completed her culminating project on identifying risk factors for urinary tract infections among individuals with developmental disabilities to help healthcare professionals to identfy UTIs and help prevent them from occuring.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the top causes for ambulatory visits in the United States. This is especially a problem for Ohioans with developmental disabilities. There is research about predictors for UTIs among the general population, but few studies are specific to individuals with developmental disabilities. The purpose of this study was to determine predictors for UTIs among Ohioans served at the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD). A total of 2489 cases and 17453 controls from the DODD met the study criteria. Data came from the DODD data warehouse and Ohio Medicaid system. Unadjusted, adjusted, and stepwise logistic regression were completed. The stepwise logistic regression found that individuals with autism had reduced odds of getting a UTI (OR=0.75; 95%CI: 0.64, 0.88; p=0.0004) while having a wheelchair increased a person’s odds (OR=1.25; 95%CI: 1.08, 1.45; p=0.0030). The odds varied for age and gender, with females younger than 55 having the highest odds when compared to males younger than 55 (OR=2.45; 95%CI: 1.84, 3.27; p<0.0001). Males who were able to pull themselves to standing had reduced odds of UTI compared to males who could not pull themselves to standing (OR=0.58; 95%CI: 0.47, 0.72; p<0.0001), but the odds of females getting a UTI were increased irrespective of ability to pull themselves to standing. These findings can help healthcare professionals identify individuals at an increased risk for UTIs, helping make a timelier diagnosis, and potential prevent UTIs from occurring.

Barrington Brevitt is a PhD candidate at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, Jamaica doing research in Applied Physics. He is also pursuing a Post Graduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning. He currently possesses a Diploma in Sports Therapy, BSc in Diagnostic Imaging and an MSc in Medical Physics. Barrington is currently employed as a Senior Medical Physicist at the Kingston Public Hospital and as an adjunct assistant lecturer at UWI. He is actively involved in radiation therapy treatment planning, diagnostic and therapeutic quality assurance and staff training. Barrington has been involved in the medical use of radiation for the past 13 years; he has a passion for radiation protection and has published 4 research papers. He has participated in many local and international conferences as well as technical workshops and training with the IAEA and Varian.

The ionizing radiation employed during computed tomography (CT) imaging can result in damage to tissue, increasing the risk of cancer and genetic mutation caused by chromosomal damage. The absorbed dose, measured in Gray (Gy) describes the total radiation energy absorbed per unit mass of tissue. However to achieve a more accurate measure of radiation exposure the effective dose (ED) is considered. This is the sum of doses delivered to each organ in relation to its radio-sensitivity and susceptibility to cancer risk and genetic mutation(1). This research was conducted to determine the effective radiation dose (ED) delivered during computed tomography examinations including those to diagnose renal disease.

She is working as a nephrologist in SKMC and activly invoved in the care of dialysis patients and kidney transpant patients. Glomerulonephritis (GN) is a rising paramount renal disease that varies in etiology from inherited or acquired factors. Its severity can range from asymptomatic depictions to end stage kidney disease (ESKD). The aim of this study was to study patterns of biopsy-proven glomerulonephritis based on data from a multicenters in Abu Dhabi. Included kidney biopsy were from all patients above the age of 18 years, over a six-year period from 2010 till 2015, who had diagnosis of glomerular disease other than diabetes mellitus. The number of reviewed biopsies was 416. The most common type of glomerulonephritis among the study sample were the IgA GN (22.8) followed by the FSGS (20.4%) followed by the SLE (19.7%). The least common types were Pauci Immune (1.7). There was female preponderance in lupus nephritis and pauci immune GN. The nationality comparison did not reveal a predominate GN among Emirati nationals. The age relationship to GN types showed that the majority (82.9%) of SLE patients, MCD (74.55 %) and non- categorized (71.4%) patients are young between the age of 18 to 39 years. On the other hand, 57.1%, 25% and 16.7% of patients with Pauci immune, other GN types and MPGN respectively are 60 years and older. This study shows the histopathological variety of glomerular disease in Abu Dhabi. It could be a driving point to help understand GN better in the region.

Dr Yun Hui Sheryl Wong is currently a renal advanced trainee in Western Australia and is interested in the area of dialysis and chronic kidney disease. Ms Ann Berwick is currently a clinical pharmacist at Royal Perth Hospital. Ms Anne Ngyuen is currently a clinical pharmacist at Royal Perth Hospital Ms Kate Morley is a clinical dietician who works out from Amity Health. Prof Mark Thomas is a nephrologist at Royal Perth hospital and has been involved in more than 20 publications.

As chronic kidney disease progresses through the 5 stages, hyperphosphataemia occurs, resulting in bone demineralisation, vascular and soft tissue calcification, cardiovascular disease and secondary hyperparathyroidism. Dietary restriction of phosphate alone becomes insufficient over time to counteract this process and various phosphate binders are commonly prescribed to reduce the absorption of phosphate from the gastrointestinal tract. Magnesium based phosphate binders have been shown to be non-inferior to sevelamer for the management of hyper-phosphataemia. However, there is a vast array of commercial magnesiumbased supplements available to the Australian consumer. Considerable heterogeneity exists not only in their magnesium content, but the concentration of other additional ions like calcium, potassium and phosphate. We discuss these supplements and present them in a table. The clinician should note that caution should be exercised when prescribing these supplements, particularly to the CKD population.(137 words)

Dr. Dyjur completed her PhD in 2015 from the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. She is the director of Inpatient Services at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, and Director of the hemodialysis program. She completed her doctoral research in the area of Nursing Work with medications using the methodology of Institutional Ethnography.

The distribution of health care services in the United States varies substantially across regions. Patients face many barriers and challenges in accessing hemodialysis in hospital, related to geophraphic variation in availability. Optimal management of end stage renal disease (ESRD) requires specialized, time sensitive care. Sparse services in rural communities and the inability to provide inpatient renal care in a timely manner can lead to increased costs, more rapid disease progression and higher mortality rates. Historically, hemodialysis services were delivered within Providence St. Mary Medical Center (PSMMC) by a contracted service provider. When contracted services were disrupted and/or unavailable, it became necessary to tranfer patients out of their home community to larger centers where critical dialysis services could be reliably provided. As disruptions began to occur on a frequent basis, a core team at PSMMC began to explore how the NxStage system could be utilized to provide hemodialysis, renal replacement and ultrafiltration therapies to inpatients.

In ten cases of live kidney donors because of difference in size and GFR of kidneys obligatory right side kidneys were selected for nephrectomy during dissecting renal vein and venae cava about 1CM in caudal and 1 cm in cephalic to renal vein on vena cava skeletonized and Stansky applied to take the vein of vena cava 1CMabove and 1 CM below of vein of renal and with a calf of 5mm in both sides, after removing kidney the kidney was placed in right iliac of kidney recipient without any trim nation of vein and donor 2 days after surgery discharged from hospital and followed after one month and then every 6 months.

Right renal vein with longitudinal flaps of vena cava and with a cuff was able to be anastomosed without tension and it was safe.
